General Description
Responsible for overseeing the delivery of services at the Academic Learning Center on the Cranford Campus during evening hours and/or Saturdays. The incumbent works with professional tutors, paraprofessional, peer tutors during the assigned hours. The individual works toward assuring and maintaining overall responsiveness of the Center to the student needs. The incumbent’s position will create a consistent evening/weekend presence for assigned staff and students.
Characteristics, Duties, and Responsibilities
• Coordinates tutorial support relating to subjects with particular emphasis on evening/weekend demands for student services.
• Oversees the Information Commons and Math Success Center during assigned hours.
• Coordinates and, when necessary, presents assigned classroom presentations for UCC 101 classes coming in for the ALC orientation.
• Facilitates the training of peer tutors.
• Recommends tutoring schedules to the Director to ensure adequate coverage for courses particularly during evening and weekend hours.
• Tutors in area of personal expertise.
• Supervises peer, paraprofessional, and professional tutors as assigned to evening and weekend hours.
• Coordinates the marketing of the services by overseeing classroom visits during evening and weekend hours.
• Evaluates assigned personnel.
• Communicates to the Director of the Academic Learning Centers on a daily basis through written reports on the operation of the centers.
• Recommends purchases necessary for the efficient operation of the overall program.
• Oversees the appropriate record-keeping and data and assists in the preparation of reports as requested.
• Establishes written goals and objectives on an annual basis and provides an annual report concerning the achievement of these guidelines.
• Performs appropriate additional duties as assigned by the Director.
Education Requirements
• Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience
• Teaching and/or tutoring experience of a minimum of two (2) years.
• Ability to conduct classroom presentations.
Competencies and Skills Required
• Knowledge of basic computer usage.
• Knowledge of basic Microsoft Office Suite programs.
• Familiarity with Learning Management Systems, such as Canvas.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced and pressured situation.
• Experience supervising student workers.
• Ability to create a collegial atmosphere for student workers.
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Willingness to be assigned to other campuses on a temporary and/or as needed basis.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
• This position’s duties are normally performed in a typical interior/residence work environment, based on the activity scheduled.
• Some physical effort required; however, the employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• No or very limited exposure to physical risk.
• Some travel required.
Salary $25/hour

Terms of Employment
Part Time, not to exceed 25 hours per week; Academic Learning Center – primarily on the Cranford Campus.  Flexible schedule to meet department needs.  Some evening, weekends, and extended hours will be required.  Ability and willingness to travel on short notice to all on and off- campus sites as needed by the college.  Employee must establish primary residency in New Jersey within one year of appointment unless an exemption applies.
