Temporary State Position Openings
Conservation Genetics Technician
North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission Director’s Office
This position will assist the state Conservation Geneticists with processing samples for DNA analysis. Primary duties include sample collection, performing and troubleshooting DNA extractions, PCR, and microsatellite fragment analysis. Other duties include assisting with tissue cataloguing, data entry, and lab management. Position will require some field work so candidate must be capable of lifting/carrying 50 pounds and have or be able to procure a valid North Carolina driver's license.
Note: This 11-month position will work primarily in the Genomics and Microbiology Lab at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in downtown Raleigh.

Ichthyology Lab Technician
The Ichthyology Unit at the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences is seeking a part-time, temporary laboratory technician to assist with a project on Smallmouth Bass conservation genetics using 3RAD, a form of reduced representation genomic sequencing. This position will be based at the Genomics and Microbiology Laboratory, which is in the Museum’s Nature Research Center. You can learn more about the Ichthyology Unit at ncfishlab.org!

The Friends of the NC Museum of Natural Sciences is looking for part-time staff who can work 15–25 hours/week. Museum Operation hours are Tuesdays–Sundays 10:00am–5:00pm, some nights and Holidays.
