Mission: 

Reporting to the Content Editing Manager, the Editorial and Product Assistant is accountable for the timely performance of specific editorial, product management, and administrative tasks and projects to support the Proprietary Content Development and Management team in creating and updating content for select EBSCO database products in the School, Public Library, and Academic markets. The right candidate is extremely detail oriented and organized, is open to new challenges, and is a positive, proactive member of the team.

 

Primary Responsibilities: 

  • Provides administrative support to editors, managers, and product managers. Maintains appropriate files, records, and other documents as required. Generates and tracks writer contracts and invoices. 
  • Provides editorial support to editors and managers. Assists in the editorial process, including screening incoming drafts from writers, assessing vendor deliveries, and monitoring ongoing projects, as well as fact-checking, copyediting, and proofreading content as needed.  
  • Assists product managers with topic list creation, image reviews, metadata, and research projects as needed. 
  • Handles special projects as assigned.  

  

Required Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Communications, Journalism, or related field  
  • 1–2 years’ experience in an office environment
  • 1–2 years’ experience in Microsoft Word 

  

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Excellent language skills (especially grammar, editing, and writing) and research skills 
  • Experience in an editing or publishing environment
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and learn quickly  
  • Capacity for detail, accuracy, organization, and problem solving 
  • Familiarity with Chicago Manual of Style (17th ed.) and MLA Handbook (8th ed.) 
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Outlook and Excel; XML and other applications helpful
