Assistant Teacher – Heritage Head Start

Puget Sound Educational Service District (PSESD) invites a highly qualified Head Start Assistant Teacher to join our team of educators and work in a strong collaborative partnership with the Lead Teacher. Job duties include providing quality, comprehensive child development to Early Head Start children and their families.

Head Start is a child development and family support program for young children and their families.  The heart of our Head Start program is preschool classes for children, where children participate in learning activities, social development and problem-solving.

PSESD is one of nine regional educational agencies serving school districts, charter schools and state-approved private schools in Washington. Educational Service Districts, created by the legislature, are an essential regional delivery system for early learning and K-12 services in the state.  PSESD is committed to becoming an Antiracist Multicultural Organization driven by equity in education.

Qualifications

  • Child Development Associate (CDA) or Early Childhood Education (ECE) certificate required. 
  • Early childhood experience in a child care center, child development center or preschool program.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Head Start, Early Head Start, or other comprehensive child development/family support program experience;
  • Experience working with low income and/or diverse populations;
  • Former or current Head Start/ECEAP participant/parent

This is a part-time (37.5 hours/week), school schedule position (186 days/year), based in White Center.  Salary: Minimum $15.82/hour.  Candidate offers consider experience, qualifications and internal equity.
