Metro Transit’s Capital Division has (3) three exciting opportunities available as Project/Program Manager I, Project/Program Manager II and Project/Program Manager III. All positions are within the Division’s recently formed Project Management Office (PMO).
The PMO's work includes establishing and implementing best practices and maintaining standards related to project management, planning and delivery of the capital program. Working with PMO, you will be part of a collaborative team developing standards, guidance, tools, and success metrics. Your role would be in one of three fields of expertise - Data/Information Management, Process Management, or Knowledge Management. In one of these areas, you would help develop, communicate and educate on best practices; apply policies and create standard work; monitor, control and audit performance; and work to continuously improve processes, systems, tools, and the corporate knowledge base. In these roles you will be asked to support the integration of three foundational agency values of equity and social justice (ESJ), sustainability and safety into developing practices.
The PMO Team is tasked with how to "Get Things Built", and the selected candidates should be equally action and outcome oriented. You should see the connection between consistent processes, reliable data, integrated systems, standard work, visual management, continuous improvement, and performance audits as a way to enable the Division to optimize outcomes and deliver on the agency’s vision to support a more equitable, sustainable and safe community.
There is one immediate Career Service (CS) position and two Term Limited Temporary (TLT) or Special Duty Assignment (SDA) positions available.
CS and TLT positions are open to the public.
SDA’s are open to current King County career service or appointed employees who have passed their initial probationary period.
In addition to the immediate vacancies, this recruitment process will also be used to establish an eligibility pool to fill future career service, TLT and/or SDA Project/Program Manager I, II and III vacancies within the Capital Division Project Management Office group that may occur within the next 12 months from the establishment of the pool, at the discretion of the hiring manager.

Position Salary Ranges
Project/Program Manager I $ 34.36 - $43.57 hourly
Project/Program Manager II $38.69 - $49.02 hourly
Project/Program Manager III $90,625.60 - $114,816.00 annually
NOTE: Salary range shown is 2018 rate; a new salary rate reflecting possible Cost-Of-Living and/or Market Adjustments since 2018 is under contract negotiation and is typically retroactive if approved.

Work Schedule
The Project/Program Manager I and II positions are overtime eligible positions that are subject to the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act. The Project/Program Manager III position is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act and is therefore not eligible for overtime pay. Work schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Work outside of business hours may be required.

Temporary Telecommuting Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed predominantly in a hybrid work environment; through a combination of teleworking complemented with onsite work and meetings as needed. Employees will have access to shared workspaces at various King County facilities. Employees must reside in Washington state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.
Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection (access may be supplemented in some situations) where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required, including the wearing of masks.
