Position Summary:

The Clinical Assistant Professor of Speech-Language Pathology will teach clinical practicum courses, undergraduate academic courses, and provide supervision to undergraduate and graduate students completing clinical courses. This is a 12-month, non-tenure track position.

Characteristic Duties:

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate clinical practicum courses, fostering knowledge and skills so that students meet standards in communication and swallowing disorders outlined by ASHA
  • Supervise undergraduate and graduate students completing clinical practicum
  • Provide verbal and written feedback to students completing therapy and evaluations
  • Review and sign student evaluations, progress reports and daily soap notes
  • Direct students to document appropriate clinical clock hours
  • Review and sign clinic clock hours in electronic records system
  • Serve on departmental, college and university committees

Minimum Qualifications:

Master's degree in speech-language pathology; certificate of Clinical Competence in speech-language pathology; eligibility for Oklahoma Licensure in speech-language pathology; minimum 3 years work experience as a speech-language pathologist; excellent interpersonal & communication skills; ability to work in a busy and sometimes noisy environment; and ability to work with both children and adults with communication disorders.

Preferred Qualifications:

Doctoral degree speech-language pathology or related area; experience supervising students; experience teaching; experience with Augmentative and Alternative Communication; and knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR).
