Visual Sound is currently seeking an Instructional Technology Coach. The ideal candidate will serve as contractor for 2 years. The contractor will work with the schools in the School District of Philadelphia. The expectations for the contract are listed below. 

The Office of Educational Technology is dedicated to helping schools integrate instructional technology into the classroom to engage students and learning in all subjects. Our mission is to create 21st century learning environments that leverage technology in order foster collaboration, creative thinking, discovery and a love for learning. The Office of Educational Technology understands the importance of teaching and learning and works diligently to support schools and teacher to effectively use technology to create teaching and learning experiences that increase engagement and achievement. This includes providing professional development opportunities in the form of coaching directly in the classroom as well as larger off-site training. 

Summary of Expectations: To meet our vision that every school and every classroom have the programs and services it needs to promote the effective use of technology and enhance instruction, promote engaged learning, and increase student achievement, the Office of Educational Technology is supporting a district-wide deployment of SMARTboards and Chromebooks as part of a larger refresh and equity distribution. The 2-year contract position of the Technology Integration Coach will work to support teachers with the integration of technology in the Math, Literacy, Science and Social Studies classrooms and to support the deployment of technology into schools across the District. The contractor will support the training of all teachers receiving SMARTboards and Chromebook carts as well as intensive coaching for these teachers in cohorts throughout the two years. The contractor will also support the professional development for all core technology initiatives pertaining to the use of Google tools and integrating technology into the classroom. The Technology Integration Coaches will support our existing Technology Integration Specialists to provide embedded support to schools. 

Essential Functions:

  • Provides in-classroom support for District-wide technology initiatives and technology literacy standards.
  • Provides in-classroom follow-up support for professional education.
  • Develops strategies that connect curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional development for the effective application of technology to improve teaching and learning.
  • Works with teachers and principals to establish technology-enhanced strategies for improving the delivery of instruction.
  • Debriefs with teachers, and school leadership teams to analyze and support the technology instruction practices in schools.
  • Plans and administers (in collaboration with the central offices) the implementation of technology instructional strategies to support academic achievement.
  • Supports development and delivers technology related professional development for central offices, principals, leadership teams and teachers based on the needs of schools and teachers.
  • Develops strategies that connect curriculum, instruction, assessment and professional development for effective technology integration to improve teaching and learning.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Five years of full-time, paid, professional appointed classroom or site-based teaching experience.
  • Experience providing professional development for teachers in improving instructional practices.
  • Evidence of high-quality technology integration and/or leadership at the classroom or school level.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  

Knowledge of:

  • Effective lesson design in one or more content areas
  • Principles and practices of sound classroom management and engagement strategies.

Demonstrated ability to:

  • Effectively model and incorporate current instructional technology to enhance student learning with demonstrable results.
  • Effectively use interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Design and facilitate school led workshops for staff development incorporating new technologies into the current curriculum.
  • Build relationships and help teachers feel comfortable with and understand instruction.
  • Communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
