Summary

The King County Prosecuting Attorney's Office is looking for a highly motivated individual to join our team as a Business and Finance Officer IV. We employ over 600 deputies and staff with annual budget 100+ million dollars. We have six divisions: Gender Based Violence and Prevention, Economics Crime and Wage Theft, Criminal, Civil, Juvenile, and Family Support. We are looking for an enthusiastic, experienced Business and Finance Officer to perform essential PAO finance functions such as providing excellent accounting, budget and finance services to PAO divisions, processing transactions, preparing and reviewing financial reports, and managing grants and contracts.

Work Location: In person/telecommuting hybrid: Downtown Seattle Courthouse, 4th Floor, Seattle.

Work Schedule: This position works a 40-hour work week schedule, normally Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. This position is eligible for King County's generous benefits package.

Salary: $51.11 - $64.79 Hourly
$4,088.80 - $5,183.20 Biweekly
$106,308.80 - $134,763.20 Annually

Job Duties
  • Assist Director of Budget and Finance to manage all aspects of PAO's grants and contracts such as award setup and billing, ensuring adequate policies and procedures and with good internal control, compliance with local, state, and/or federal guidelines and requirements, managing Schedule of Expenditures for Federal Awards (SEFA) and State Schedule of Financial Assistance (SSFA) reporting processes.
  • Assist with PAO Finance Team for daily operations including processing transactions, accounting and/or financial reporting, and research and address discrepancies, expenditure changes or inconsistencies.
  • Assist Director of Budget and Finance with budget development, reporting and monitoring, including internal review of budget spending, approving expenditures and preparing periodic budget reports for management review and actions.
  • Assist with reviewing, drafting and revising finance-related policies and procedures to align with Generally Accepted Accounting Practices (GAAP), Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB), King County Financial policies and practices, and with prudent and responsible expenditures that best address the PAO's need and budget limitations.
  • Work with PAO employees, and employees in other County agencies, to understand and reconcile internal and inter-agency expenditures, to created sound financial procedures and to make prudent decisions and/or recommendations.
  • Active participation in PAO equity work, and support for the PAO's Race, Equity and Social Justice policy and principles.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or related field and five years of experience in accounting, budget and finance operations; or a combination of education and experience sufficient to perform the duties of the position required.
  • Knowledge/experience in the Criminal Justice System and/or public sector is a plus.
  • Strong communication skills both orally and in writing; customer focused with a dedication to providing efficient and value-added services; ability to work in a team setting and independently.
  • Perform accounting functions involved in reconciling accounts, preparing and reviewing finance reports, monitoring expenditures and preparing budgets. ability to analyze and research transactions and make recommendations.
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting; grant management and knowledge of federal and state grant requirements, including annual reporting processes.
  • Skill in using Microsoft Office programs and database management software. Experience using Oracle financial system is a plus.
