Job Description:

The Office of Admissions at the State University of New York at Oswego invites applications to fill a full time Admissions Counselor.

Posting Date:  May 10, 2023

Review Date:  Review of applications will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Compensation:  Minimum Salary $50,148, commensurate with experience plus full New York State benefits package.

Date of Appointment:  As soon as possible

Description of Responsibilities:  

  • Managing a specific recruitment territory of our prospect/applicant pool
  • Representing the College at on- and off-campus and virtual recruitment events
  • Serving as primary liaison for school counselors, agencies and educators in assigned markets
  • Developing relationships with prospective students and families
  • Coordinate applicant approval process for select admissions programs
  • Conducting large group presentations and student interviews
  • Reviewing and evaluating applications
  • Managing multiple projects successfully as needed in a time sensitive environment
  • Availability to work evenings and weekends
  • Ability to travel for extended periods of time
  • Other duties as assigned

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree at time of appointment
  • A strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success
  • Ability to use analytical thinking, creative problem solving skills, listening skills, multi-tasking skills, and attention to detail
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to work evenings, weekends and travel for extended periods of time
  • Valid driver's license
  • Out of state travel might be required

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in Admissions
  • Experience working with Slate (CRM)
