UW-IT is the central IT organization for the University of Washington, providing technology solutions to all three campuses, UW medical centers and global research operations. UW-IT collaborates with University partners to advance teaching, learning, innovation, and discovery at the UW. UW-IT is currently looking for a Senior Q/A Lead who will support the UW-IT work on Finance Transformation, the University’s large-scale project to modernize its finance operations, business systems and processes. The position is a role in the newly established UW-IT FT program (ITF).

In order to be successful, the individual will need to have experience leading end-to-end quality assurance and testing efforts within a complex enterprise-level environment and be experienced with automated testing processes and tools. Have experience working closely with development teams and deployment managers throughout the testing lifecycle, to ensure that the overall quality of the delivered solution is aligned with business expectations. Have the ability to forecast resources around testing activities, mentor and develop SDETs and provide direction and guidance for leadership on testing activities.

REQUIREMENTS   
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Management, related technical field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 4 years’ experience with end-to-end testing in a data-centric environment, such as a data warehouse
  • Experience leading and participating in functional analysis that informs technical testing decisions
  • Experience designing and implementing end-to-end quality assurance and testing methodology for enterprise solutions
  • Experience with reviewing requirements and developing test cases based on those requirements
  • Experience working with automated software testing applications as well as producing automated test scripts and tools
  • Experience training, mentoring, and guiding others
  • Excellent written/oral communication skills, technical documentation skills, user liaison skills, and personal interaction abilities
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively on an Agile team
  • Experience with SQL

    Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except where there are legal requirements such as license/certification/registration.

    DESIRED
  • Experience with Agile testing methodologies
  • Advanced SQL skills
  • Experience with ETL testing
  • Experience with SSIS and/or Red Gate SQL Compare tools
  • Experience with SSDT SQL Unit Tests
  • Experience coding in a modern programming or scripting language such as C++, C#, Java, Python, PowerShell, etc.
  • Experience testing data quality
  • Experience testing enterprise-wide data systems both onsite and in the cloud
  • Experience with data warehousing, such as industry standards, data modeling techniques, and design methodologies
  • Experience working at a large Research University

    WORKING ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS
    Work in an open office environment and contribute to collaborative teamwork focused on problem-solving. Daily interactions with other team members, subject matter experts and stakeholders at all levels of the organization. While the general working hours are within Monday through Friday, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., this position will, on occasion, need to adjust hours to accommodate the business needs and deadlines.

    This position is eligible for flexible remote work 

    This position on the Finance Transformation Project is temporarily funded; continued employment is contingent on ongoing funding and performance.
