Assists healthcare providers in the ambulatory setting. Obtain patient past and present ocular and general medical history. Perform visual acuity. Perform diagnostic testing under the supervision of physicians and techs. These tests include visual field testing, refractometry, keratometry, topography, pachymetry, ocular coherence tomography (OCT), specular microscopy and intraocular pressure check. Takes responsibility for self-development and supports a learning environment. Uses interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients, physicians, and other customers. Provides age specific care to patients from toddlers through elderly. Provide other patient services and education as requested by the physicians.

High School Equivalent / GED Completion of a 1 yr COA program or completion of JCAHPO Home Study and 1 yr work experience in a similar field. Min 1 yr exp in an Ophthalmic Pract.
