Join our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Counselor in the Dorchester Family Center at Behavioral Health Network! 

 

**NOTICE**

In accordance with the BHN Mandatory COVID vaccine policy - all staff, interns, temps, residents and contractors are required to be fully vaccinated no later than day one of employment. Medical or religious exemptions will be offered and must be approved prior to starting work.

The same guidelines noted above apply during flu season (defined as December 1st – through end of flu season as announced by the CDC) for BHN’s Mandatory Influenza Vaccine policy.

Your experience, knowledge and great skills will support the Dorchester Family Center with the following:

  • Providing a caseload of individuals served with individual, group, and educational services through sound, therapeutic treatment.
  • Managing the day to day operations in the program.
  • Performing admission functions including intakes, comprehensive assessments, screenings, and orientations.
  • Developing treatment plans that are measurable, coherent, and reflective of client’s progress and development.
  • Providing individuals with information on substance abuse treatment resources and services and making referrals, as needed.
  • Maintains individuals’ charts and treatment notes in an accurate, timely, and compliant manner using the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Maintaining positive working relationship with agencies, resources, and families to coordinate services for client care.
  • Being a role model through positive, appropriate conduct, and participation in special agency events.
  • Responds to individuals’ crises and emergencies as needed.
  • Complying with BHN, local, state, and federal regulations and policies.

The Dorchester Family Center provides long-term residential family substance use treatment for women and their children of all ages, from newborns to teens. The diverse experienced team at the Dorchester Family Center provides a variety of services including individual and group counseling, therapy and psycho-educational groups, individualized treatments plans, and medical and mental health referrals, among others. Our goal is to provide a safe and sober living environment to allow successful family reunification and long-term family stabilization.

Job Requirements:

What are we looking for in a Counselor?

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent (required); Bachelor’s Degree in a related field (preferred).
  • At least one year of experience in Human Services (preferred).
  • At least one year of experience working in substance treatment environment (preferred).
  • CADC, LADCI, LADCII or equivalent (preferred).
  • Ability to develop rapport with substance-abusing populations and families.
  • Strong organizational management skills and self-discipline.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Valid driver’s license (preferred).
