Maintenance Mechanic

Chemical Company in SE MI is seeking Maintenance Mechanic candidates with a strong knowledge of industrial and mechanical operations.

Position will perform corrective and preventive maintenance tasks including documentation and effective communication with the engineering, operations and maintenance groups. Must have good troubleshooting skills. Must have ability to plan and execute daily work activities. Must be available for a flexible work schedule which will require overtime and weekend work along with On-Call coverage. Capable of reading and understanding blueprints, P&ID’s isometrics, construction drawings and equipment specification documents.

Effectively complete piping fabrication, layout, routing and installation to established piping specifications and to perform equipment installation and set-up from documented instructions. Experience with welding in mild steel and stainless steel, using SMAW (Shielded metal arc welding), MIG and TIG procedures and have knowledge of how to set up and use oxyacetylene torches and plasma cutters. Must have good understanding of rigging and rotating equipment. Should have basic knowledge of electrical systems. Capable of safely operating mobile equipment (i.e. Fork trucks, JLG, scissor lift, etc). Must have basic computer skills in work processing, data base and spreadsheet software applications. HS diploma or GED required.
