Job Summary:
Provide clerical support in ambulatory care setting. Greet patients and complete patient check-in registration process, checking demographic information, generating necessary paperwork, and notifying staff of patient arrival. Check out patients and collect appropriate copays. Answer phones and schedule/reschedule appointments. Determine whether service pre-authorizations are needed and obtain any necessary supportive information. Initiate insurance carrier regulatory requirements, such as ABNs or waivers of liability, and forward to appropriate staff for completion and/or discussion with patients. Obtain additional records, reports, x-rays, etc. as requested by patients/providers/staff. Use various computer systems, EPIC, Word, GroupWise, Chart Maxx, etc. Use all pertinent office equipment such as copiers, fax, shredders, scanners, etc. Assist with mail distribution and other tasks as assigned by leadership.
Minimum Qualifications:
Two years secretarial/clerical experience required, preferably in an ambulatory patient care setting.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience obtaining medical service authorizations, communicating with insurance carriers, or other support agencies preferred. Working knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, experience with Medical Data Base systems (Epic software preferred) for patient registration and scheduling, excellent phone etiquette, experience with multiple provider scheduling and medical record management preferred.
