Description

GENERAL PURPOSE OF POSITION:

Assist the Development Strategist and support the Philanthropy Team in growing and maintaining a world-class development operation that includes but is not limited to effective stewardship, donor acknowledgment, and donor database maintenance.

The National Ministries United Church of Christ embraces telework and allows employees to work a hybrid scheduled as reviewed and approved by their supervisor. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Gift Entry and Acknowledgement Process

  • Enter gifts daily that have been logged in the Key Navigator lockbox
  • Enter gifts daily that have been received in the UCC’s Finance office and stored on the X: Drive
  • Work closely with the UCC’s Finance team to reconcile gift entries and ensure proper coding
  • Send donor acknowledgement letters promptly
  • Update acknowledgement letter templates bi-annually to refresh language
  • Process online donations made through Online Express, Net Community, and Mobile Express
  • Update e-acknowledgement notices bi-annually to refresh language

 

Database Management

  • Serve as a power user and manager of the Philanthropy team’s technology assets, i.e., Raiser’s Edge, Importacular, NXT, and Blackbaud Net Community
  • Serve as point person to contact Blackbaud Support to research technical issues encountered by UCC Raiser’s Edge users
  • Function as the primary contact for providing technical assistance to the UCC Raiser’s Edge users, e.g., password changes
  • Update donor records with deceased information, address updates, actions, and other pertinent data

 

Outstanding Pledges

  • Review outstanding pledge report monthly
  • Create pledge invoices for mailing
  • Inform UCC Generosity Officers if one of their donors has an outstanding pledge payment

 

Reporting

  • Create and distribute weekly gift reports to Philanthropy Team members
  • Generate duplicate constituent report and update records accordingly
  • Send quarterly fundraising reports to United Church of Christ Conferences

 

Communications and Donor Relations

  • Respond to inquiries received through the OPTIC general phone number and email
  • Provide timely customer service to inquiries

 

Other Functions

  • Import new constituents into Raiser’s Edge database
  • Import data into existing constituent records
 
Position Requirements

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and/or abilities required to perform successfully in this position.

  • A college degree in a related field or equivalent experience, or a combination of academic study and experience
  • Demonstrated experience with data systems, database management, and philanthropy reporting
  • Demonstrated excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated experience managing multiple priorities
  • Commitment to and theological understanding of mission, stewardship, and philanthropy
  • Desire and sensitivity to work in diverse racial, ethnic, cultural, and religious settings with a commitment to diversity in the workplace as well as in one’s understanding of mission
  • Ability to hold sensitive information in a confidential manner
  • Demonstrated experience working collaboratively and collegially as well as independently
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and Raiser’s Edge NXT

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum of 3 years demonstrated experience in advanced reporting
  • Familiarity with the moves management concept
  • Familiarity with Crystal Reports
  • Understanding of the polity and structures of the United Church of Christ.
