Summary

To contain COVID-19 and fully re-open the region, Public Health -- Seattle & King County estimates that it will be necessary to vaccinate at least 70 percent of all adults, or approximately 1.26 million people. To help achieve this goal, there is an urgent need to create and expand COVID-19 vaccination capacity across King County.

Public Health – Seattle & King County (PHSKC) is opening two vaccination sites at the Downtown and Eastgate Public Health Centers to provide referral-based appointments to a targeted population of underserved communities and those disproportionately affected by COVID-19. These sites are expected to be open Monday through Friday during normal business hours.

We are looking to fill numerous Registered Nurse positions in the Community Health Services Division to work for up to eight months to support and maintain the operations of our Covid-19 vaccination program at the Downtown and Eastgate Public Health Centers. 

This is a term limited temporary (TLT) or Special Duty position. This position will report to the site Vaccine Program Personal Health Services Supervisor. The successful candidate will possess strong problem-solving skills and work well in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.

Job Duties:

  • Provide clinical screening for vaccine eligibility
  • Vaccine preparation 
  • Administer COVID-19 vaccine and document in electronic health record
  • Provide education regarding vaccine indications and side effects
  • Provide post-vaccination patient safety monitoring and respond to any adverse reactions according to standing orders
  • Provide safety oversight within scope of practice
  • Other duties as assigned to support operational need

 

Licensing/Certification Requirements: 

  • Current Washington State Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
  • Minimum of Associate Degree in Nursing Science from an accredited school of nursing
  • Washington State Drivers' License or the ability to provide transportation to work.
  • Current BLS-CPR for Healthcare Providers

 


Competitive Candidates

  • Knowledge of vaccine administration
  • Bilingual and/or bicultural - Spanish preferred
  • Experience in patient education
  • Familiar with EPIC System
  • Experience in emergency and/or urgent care
  • Experience in school nursing and/or public health
  • Demonstrated ability to work in community settings with culturally and socio-economically diverse populations 
  • Demonstrated ability to apply concepts of trauma-informed care and equity & social justice principles to nursing practice

WORK SCHEDULE: 

This position is fully benefited 1.0 FTE and overtime eligible. We expect the clinics to operate through October 2021. The site will be operational Monday through Friday during business hours. May also work outside of assigned shift and/or location in order to meet operational needs.


WORK LOCATION: This position is based either at the Eastgate or the Downtown Public Health Centers but may be deployed to other locations to meet operational needs.
