TEXAS REFINERY CORP., leader in the Specialty Lubricants industry, is seeking a team player to work as a Staff Accountant for our family owned business of 93 years. Functions / Responsibilities - Participates in general ledger close process and performs account analysis and reconciliations. Identifies discrepancies and resolve them. - Verifies the legitimacy of the journal entries, support, credits and debits. - Gathers financial information from expense/income activity and ensures all relevant information is available for financial statement preparation. - Responsible for managing correct coding of expenses for proper input into system. Determines the problem with incorrectly coded expenses and recommends corrective action. - Reconciles balance sheet accounts and all journal entries in Chempax. - Interprets and ensures compliance of fiscal and related operations with governing laws, rules, regulations, and policies to protect against non- compliance ramifications. - During month end, makes entries to reconcile inventory book balances with physical inventory balances. - Prepare work papers for annual audits as directed by Management. - Ensures compliance if an audit report is issued. Ability and Skills Working knowledge of professional accounting theory, principles, techniques, and procedures; regulations and law governing accounting practices; design and maintenance of accounting systems; computerized accounting systems; governmental tax policy and procedures; cash management practices; the preparation of financial reports, statements, and schedules. A demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret financial information and reports. Self-started, strategic thinker and results-driven. Strong relationship builder and is able to work well within team environment. Must possess excellent computer skills and have a working knowledge of programs such as Microsoft Word and Excel. Qualifications Four-year degree from College or University with major in accounting or relevant, with 3-5 years of related experience. CPA preferred.
