Class Description

Provide leadership in transformative learning and student success at the Community College of Baltimore County by focusing on classroom pedagogy and the art and science of teaching and learning. Transformative learning areas include global education, high impact practices and evidence based pedagogies. Be part of a dynamic multidisciplinary team leading the Institute for Teaching, Learning & Leadership.

Minimum Requirements

Master’s degree in education, higher education leadership, psychology or a related field. A minimum of 6 years of experience in higher education in a faculty role and with professional learning/faculty development (3 years). Of the six years of experience, three of those years must include supervision of other faculty/staff. Demonstrated understanding of/experience with evidence-based practices in post-secondary education that promote student success and equity. Experience managing diverse projects, such as the design and implementation of professional learning in transformational pedagogies that support student success.

Class Specific Essential Duties

  1. Establish the vision, strategy, and priorities for the transformational pedagogies unit of the Institute of Transformative Teaching, Learning and Leadership. 
  2. Lead the high-impact and evidence-based practices work of the college, including infusion work into general education courses, working with individual faculty members and groups to design, implement and assess the outcomes of high-impact and evidence-based pedagogy practices.
  3. Direct, oversee and grow the work of programs in the Transformational Pedagogies unit, including but not limited to Global Education, Adjunct Teaching, Learning & Scholarship (ATLAS), Connections: A community of Teaching & Learning Scholars. 
  4. Manage budget and personnel resources of the Transformational Pedagogies unit in collaboration with other leaders in the Institute for Transformative Teaching, Learning and Leadership. 
  5. Oversee the collaboration and cross-pollination of the other units in the Institute for Transformative Teaching, Learning & Leadership. 
  6. Engage in resource development and grants work to fund ongoing and new initiatives.

Position Specific Essential Duties

  1. Lead the college’s efforts to train and engage faculty and staff to adopt and implement evidence-based pedagogies to improve success of all students. 
  2. Provide leadership to expand and improve professional learning for faculty. 
  3. Keep current on the research of post-secondary education best practices and the science of teaching and learning, and oversee professional learning activities that promote the adoption of such practices among CCBC faculty and staff. 
  4. Oversee the colleges’ Global Education programs and services to faculty, staff and students. 
  5. Oversee the Learning Communities program. 
  6. Oversee the professional and organizational learning programs related to the science of teaching and learning, ACUE professional learning and Teaching Squares, for example. 
  7. Collaborate closely with the other three directors in the unit to assure alignment of strategic planning and resource allocation, encouraging cross-pollination among all four units. 
  8. Engage in resource development (grants and other awards) for ongoing and new initiatives.

Long-Term Disability

Plan pays 60% of gross monthly salary after 90 consecutive days of absence. Employee pays 100% of premium.

The Roth 403(b) savings feature allows employees to contribute after-tax dollars and then withdraw tax-free dollars from their account upon retirement. McDaniel College has extended its Educator’s Legacy Scholarship (ELS) program to CCBC benefits-eligible employees. CCBC is among the inaugural community college partners.
