Position Purpose:  Care will be exercised with material and property provided by the customer (donors and semen) while under Trans Ova Genetics control.  This includes identification, verification, protection, and maintenance of customer property.  Customer property that is lost, damaged, or otherwise found unsuitable for use will be recorded and reported to the customer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Keep donors clean, comfortable, and free from stress, disease, and injury.
  • Meet nutrient requirements of donors.
  • Maintain identification and location of donors.
  • Provide communication of donor issues to the client:
    • Donor health issues and concerns.
    • Bull choices.
    • Donor updates.
  • Provide reproductive management including:
    • Scheduling.
    • Hormone injections.
    • Heat Detection.
    • Insemination.
    • Palpations.
  • Provide milking for the lactating dairy cattle:
    • Milking preparations.
    • Milking of lactating dairy cattle.
    • Post milking clean up.
  • Enter donor procedures in the ET System for accurate billing.
  • Maintain facilities:
    • Clean pens.
    • Repairs and Maintenance.
    • Keep facilities picked up and orderly.
  • Maintain a professional image:
    • Maintain a presentable appearance.
    • Donor information given should be kept positive and confidential.
  • Provide proper care of client semen:
    • Data entry of incoming semen.
    • Data entry of semen used.
    • Maintain level of liquid nitrogen tanks.
  • Follows Trans Ova’s policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education Requirements:

Minimum high school diploma or G.E.D.

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions:

Must be able to lift 50 pounds.  Must be able to operate skid loader, dump truck, pickup and trailer, tractor and manure spreader.  Working conditions are primarily an outdoor environment with extreme temperatures.  Animals, especially if handled improperly, can cause injury.  Normal working hours are 40 per week.  Rotations to allow for days off are used throughout the week.

Other skills/experience:

Prior cattle handling experience is helpful, especially beef cattle.
