General Job Description

• Under general supervision, this position performs maintenance and repair on a variety of vehicles and equipment.
• Performs major and minor overhauls on gas and diesel engines, transmissions, gear boxes, hydraulic motors,
• hydraulic systems, water pumps, air compressors, air tools, generators, starters, electrical systems,
• jack hammers, rock drills backhoe, bucket truck, track loader, dump trucks and trailers. Performs wire feed welding. Troubleshoots mechanical failure.  Estimate cost of repairs.
• Provides limited training to employees on assigned tasks and safety procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

• Identify mechanical problems, often by using computerized diagnostic equipment
• Test parts and systems to ensure that they are working properly
• Follow checklists to ensure that all critical parts are examined
• Perform basic care and maintenance, including changing oil, giving tune-ups, checking fluid levels, and rotating tires
• Repair or replace worn parts, such as brake pads and wheel bearings
• Disassemble and reassemble parts
• Use testing equipment to ensure that repairs and maintenance are effective

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Certificate.
• Two (2) years’ experience in general mechanical repair. Two (2) years related vocational training from an accredited vocational school may be substituted for the required experience.
• Maintains a valid Driver’s License or Kansas Commercial Driver’s License. Will be required to obtain a CDL license.
• Required to pass a pre-employment fit to work physical and UA testing.
