The Whatcom Museum located in the heart of downtown Bellingham currently has an opening for a part-time Purchaser for our Museum Store. This position has a flexible work schedule, averaging between 15-20 hours per week, but occasionally more hours to help cover vacations (including some weekends).

This position has a wide range of responsibilities, but is primarily responsible for working with the Museum's Executive Director, Exhibition team, and Education team to source merchandise relating to the Museum's exhibitions and programming. A passion for Art, Natural History, and Pacific Northwest History is vital for this position. Because this position works closely with our Visitor's Services team, candidates should have exceptional guest services, organization, and an aptitude for effective merchandise display to help maximize our visitor's experience.

Applicants are preferred with a Degree in art, history, science, museum studies, business or related fields. A minimum three years of applied experience working in a retail store is also preferred; experience as a cashier or related experience handling money is required. Experience working with vendors and consignment sales is important.  Position is open until filled.
