The position is responsible for managing the AmeriCorps program and supervises the programs, technical supervisors. Instruction and recruitment of at-risk youth between the ages of 17 to 24 in classroom and construction site settings. Meets with schools and other community agencies to recruit students. Prepare youth for high school equivalency testing and foster independent living; build pre-employment skills to transition to higher education; writes grants; and monitors the budget. A degree in secondary education, comfortable working with alternate learning styles and a passion to work with challenging students is a must. The director ensures AmeriCorps regulations are followed. Salary is $42,000 annually.
