Summary

We’re looking for a seasoned and passionate front-end developer to join our growing User Experience team. As a front-end developer, you'll work on the front end of our products, building out compelling experiences that benefit the 2 million residents of King County.
 
The ideal candidate will have demonstrated analytical skills, enjoy working collaboratively, a dedication to quality, and be up on the latest coding practices. They will also possess a deep knowledge of JavaScript, CSS, HTML, as well as a an understanding of UX methods and deliverables.

Duration
This positions is estimated for a duration of 36 months.
 
TEMPORARY TELECOMMUTING REQUIREMENT 
The work associated with this position will be performed remotely, at least through July 5, 2021 in compliance with King County’s telecommuting mandate. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements.  There will be situations where the employee is required to report to a County worksite. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer.
 
To support employees during this time King County has a robust collection of tools and resources to support working remotely. The individual selected for this opportunity will be joining an innovative and progressive team. Work Schedule
The normal workweek for this position is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Alternative work schedules may be considered. This position is not eligible for overtime pay.

Job Duties

  • Translate designs and wireframes into high-quality code
  • Partner with UX designers to give feedback on designs and make recommendations
  • Create quality, rapid mockups and prototypes
  • UI development, testing, and support of complex web and native applications
  • Create UIs that are efficient, reusable, and scalable, and are implemented to industry / County standards
  • Use JavaScript to build and consume APIs
  • Participate in technical design sessions; develop technical solution documentation
  • Collaborate with other team members as well as business owners and cross-functional teams
  • Managing code in a CI/CD, source control (GIT) environment
  • Routine testing for quality, accessibility, and functionality

Experience, Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills

  • Minimum 7 years of front-end development experience
  • Deep experience with front-end languages such as CSS, HTML, JavaScript (ES6+), and JSON
  • Knowledge or experience with CSS preprocessors SASS or LESS
  • Experience with JavaScript frameworks such as REACT and Angular
  • Knowledge of/ability to build and consume APIs (REST, GraphQL. etc. ), including secure APIs Familiar with mobile-first responsive design
  • Experience with CMS frameworks
  • Strong knowledge of W3C accessibility standards such as WCAG
  • Strong experience working on Agile product teams and familiarity working with a Lean UX model
Desirable Qualifications
  • Experience working with Sitecore CMS
  • Experience using automated scripting tools like Gulp to build automated development processes leveraging NPM or Yarn, Node.js and other modern development techniques
