The Tulane National Primate Research Center (TNPRC) is seeking a motivated, enthusiastic, and highly skilled individual with leadership qualities, mentoring skills, good communication skills and extensive knowledge, experience and trouble-shooting abilities pertaining to all aspects of cutting-edge flow cytometry. The Assistant Director of the Flow Cytometry Core Facility will manage and direct daily operations and personnel of the TNPRC Flow Cytometry Core facility and will be the primary go-to resource person for TNPRC and extra-mural investigators seeking advice on technical and scientific issues related to the design and implementation of flow cytometry experiments.

The Assistant Director position requires extensive knowledge of research applications in complex flow cytometry including but not limited to cell sorting, data analysis, trouble shooting and hands-on experience with quality control and maintenance of increasingly complex flow cytometry instrumentation. Responsibilities include oversight and direction of all activities necessary to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the core facility such as training and supervision of the core technical staff on all aspects of sample acquisition, cell sorting and data analysis, and delegation and supervision of scheduling, budgeting, ordering and record-keeping. This individual will also be responsible for generating reports (annual or more frequent as required), interfacing with investigators, troubleshooting major problems that cannot be handled by other staff, and establishing and implementing SOPs for maintenance and operation of instruments with consistently high standards of quality control. 

The Assistant Director will proactively monitor technological development, institute new protocols, keep abreast of cutting-edge technology and its applications, and ensure training of staff and investigators in new technology and flow cytometry analyses. In concert with the Scientific Director, this individual will be responsible for the long-term planning and expansion of the core facility to ensure continued provision of high-quality state-of-the-art services.
