Economist II

The PNC Financial Services Group, Inc. seeks an Economist II in Pittsburgh, PA responsible for reviewing economic and financial market data and analyzing economic and financial conditions. The position also requires computer modeling of the economy, forecasting economic conditions, and developing economic scenarios. The economist must also communicate these findings and analysis to internal and external audiences.

Specific duties include: (i) using independent discretion in evaluating data and analyzing national, regional, financial, and industry economic conditions and prospects; (ii) developing and maintaining computer economic and financial models, developing and maintaining specialized economic and financial databases, and forecasting economic and financial concepts; (iii) communicating economic and financial conditions through written reports and presentations, including to senior leadership, based on independent analysis; and (iv) providing economic and financial analysis to the media. Master’s degree in Economics, Macroeconomics, Mathematics or Finance plus 3 years of experience managing risk, Global Economic Analysis (GEA), investment risk economics and finance, and economic market risk at a financial services company is required.

Must have experience with the following: (i) designing and reviewing Market Risk and Credit Risk projections for CCAR/DFAST; (ii) designing and reviewing Risk Identification and Scenario Design Processes; (iii) designing and reviewing stress testing methodologies for CCAR/DFAST and CECL; (iv) developing risk models, scenario design models, risk identification models, and mark-to-market loss models to assess risk associated with portfolios; and (v) analysis of risk exposure, including monitoring the risk environment, assessing economic and financial market data, and assessing emerging risks.

Must have knowledge of: (i) econometric packages SAS or EViews; and (ii) programming languages Python or R.

40 hours/week, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
