The Washington National Primate Center has an outstanding opportunity for an Associate Director, Finance & Administration.

The primary purpose of this position is to provide the appropriate environment to support outstanding biomedical research directed towards significant human health issues and nonhuman primate health and biology.  In conjunction with our Mission Statement, these values link this position to our purpose as a Center:

Under the general direction of the WaNPRC Director, the Associate Director, Finance & Administration provides oversight and leadership for the daily operations of the Center in the areas of finance, administration and IT.  This position will have six direct reports (finance lead, administration and IT).   The Associate Director, Finance & Administration will provide leadership and support of long term objectives and priorities. As a member of the Senior Management Team, the Associate Director, Finance & Administration will play a critical role in partnering with others in strategic decision making and operations. The Associate Director, Finance & Administration will also actively support the WaNPRC Core Values of Commitment to Research, Teamwork, Accountability and Productivity, and Communications, and foster development of these values throughout the Center. The Associate Director, Finance & Administration will be a hands-on and participative manager, and will lead and develop an internal team to support WaNPRC financial, IT and administrative services.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Management, Fiscal and Business Planning 50%
This provides leadership and oversight of all financial business functions of the WaNPRC, including all matters concerning budgeting, allocating, monitoring, and fiscal management of all financial requirements within the WaNPRC.  Oversee annual budgeting and planning process; review all financial plans and budgets; monitor progress and changes; and keep senior leadership team abreast of the organization’s financial status.

Administration/Human Resources 30%
This positon provides leadership and oversight of all administration and human resources for the Center.  This includes oversight of recruiting, coordination/lead in communications, training and special events planning and coordination.  Works directly the Campus HR for personnel and performance issues as needed.  Ensures the Center is aligned with University policies and procedures.

IT 20%
This position will provide leadership and oversight for all IT at the Center, implementing a strategy that meets the Center business needs.  Establishes long-term IS needs and plans and develops strategies for developing systems and acquiring software and hardware necessary to meet those needs.

Perform other related duties as required.

REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires a Master's degree in Business Administration, or related field and 10 years of progressively increasing responsible positions in higher education and/or a research facility.

Candidates must also demonstrate a high degree of initiative, financial analysis, operational efficiencies and cost containment, human resource management, process improvement/lean expertise and strategic planning. A functional working knowledge of academic institutions is also required.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
