We are looking for a seasoned technologist in our Database Operations practice for our private and public-cloud (AWS) infrastructure and operations domain. Primarily responsible for various database administration activities related to management of Oracle [Standard Edition] 19c, 12c and Postgres databases (installation, administration, backups, re-orgs., and any additional required maintenance stemming from proprietary application usage). Ensures sound security, integrity controls and monitoring protocols are in place. With user and assigned personnel, defines and specifies database access, structure, functional capabilities, etc.

 

Responsibilities

  • Monitors database performance and works closely with developers and users to tune queries and optimize database performance.
  • Ability to work closely with systems administrators and developers to develop optimized systems for data access.
  • Responsible for refreshing development and test databases from production data. Executes necessary tasks to accomplish this, including export, drop, create, and import using NetApp Snapcenter toolsets.
  • Assists in database design and implementation and maintains an understanding of the various databases used in the library content business.
  • Establishes various database objects, such as database procedures, indexes groups and roles in support of database applications and database schema.
  • Plans, coordinates, implements and supports database systems, working closely with Content production staff to anticipate and meet program requirements for database infrastructure.
  • Assures systems quality and maintenance of database dictionaries.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation as part of a DBA team (Bi-weekly rotation)
  • Test programs or databases, correct errors and make necessary modifications.
  • Modify existing databases and database management systems or direct programmers and analysts to make changes.
  • May be responsible for review ,design and migrate onprem Oracle workloads to AWS .
  • Plan, coordinate and implement security measures to safeguard information in computer files against accidental or unauthorized damage, modification or disclosure.

 

Qualifications

  • 8+ years experience with Relational [ Oracle, MySql, Postgres, AWS RDS] ,operations and/or solution deployment experience in a business-critical, high-availability context.
  • 5+ years of experience in design and implementation of large-scale database servers in onprem or cloud environment.
  • Working knowledge of Storage technologies [NetApp SnapCenter], shell scripting, SQLPlus.
  • Demonstrated expertise or additional certification in Oracle and database administration required.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and Automation.
  • Experience in database development and coding in various languages (SQL, PL SQL, Python etc.)
  • Understand and interpret infrastructure requirements such as Networking, Storage, and Hardware Optimization.
  • Implementation and tuning experience of Databases including knowledge of Schema Design, Query Tuning and Optimization, and Data Migration and Integrations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills - ability to effectively interact with all levels of staff and external contacts.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
  • Skill in Database software installation, upgrades and patching
  • Skill in interviewing users and identifying their needs.
  • AWS cloud certifications for Database solutions.   

    Target Annual Salary Range: $115,710 - $165,300. This Pay Target range includes a bonus target of 5% of base salary. The actual salary offer will carefully consider a wide range of factors including your skills, qualifications, education, training, and experience, as well as the position’s work location.
