I.         

Purpose

 

Responsible for leading department personnel while maintaining positive employee relations and motivation.  Oversees the shipping, receiving, packaging, and storage of supplies and materials.  Prepares schedules for shipping and receiving materials to control the flow of goods and regulate warehouse space.  Interacts cooperatively in a spirit of teamwork with Management and co-workers to provide excellent customer service and ensure product quality.   

 

II.

Duties

 

1.   Manages warehouse team and the WMS (Warehouse Management System).

2.   Ensures proper segregation and storage of allergen-containing products and Identity Preserved items from incoming raw materials to outgoing finished products to prevent cross-contamination. 

3.   Formulates necessary controls, procedures and operating plans to attain maximum efficiency and productivity consistent with production needs. 

4.   Establishes effective coordination and communication of production schedule to reach 100% on-time, accurate and complete deliveries.

5.   Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing company policies and operations.

6.   Complies with federal, state, and local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements to ensure the Company is adhering to requirements. 

7.   Controls inventory levels by conducting physical and cycle counts: reconciling with inventory control system.

8.   Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; and issuing work orders for repair.

9.   Oversees daily entering and scanning of receipt of raw materials, inventory moves, supplies and finished goods in the MRP system.

10.  Maintains recycling program by initiating and coordinating the scrap operation.

11.  Oversees movement of finished goods and raw materials between the main warehouse and production floor.

12.  Coordinates the receipt of products, cartons, pallets and other supplies from suppliers as required by manufacturing.

13.  Manages and maintains freight claims with carriers. 

14.  Oversees stretch wrapping pallet process ensuring product is encased for safe shipping.  

15.  Manages and motivates hourly employees through a supervisory staff in a manner consistent with policies and procedures established by Maud Borup. 

16.  Establishes and maintains the necessary policies and controls to assure a safe and orderly work environment; administers plant safety and housekeeping programs.

17.  Is familiar with and complies with SQF Food Safety standards and ensures all product produced meets assigned quality standards, especially when dealing with allergens.   

18.  Set warehouse and team goals in collaboration with executive management and other team leads.

19.  Knowledge of procedures, work instructions and associated paperwork as required.

20.   Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.

Knowledge

 

1.

Requirements

 

 

·         Able to perform electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic trouble shooting and repair

·         Good mechanical aptitude, strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 

·         Basic knowledge of manufacturing techniques

·         Must possess knowledge of good manufacturing methods, company operations, purchasing practices, and inventory control procedures. 

·         Ability to effectively communicate in written, verbal and interpersonal levels with all levels of the organization.

·         Goal-oriented with the ability to meet tight deadlines related to detailed and complex situations.

·         Strong computer skills. 

·         Working knowledge of SQF Food Safety and food quality requirements and continuous improvement methods.  

·         Good physical condition is required for lifting, walking, pulling, bending over, and climbing

·         Must be safety conscious and comply with safety rules and regulations.

·         Technical certificate or BS degree in plant maintenance, supervision, or related fields.

·         Three (3) to five (5) years of production supervisory, mechanical and warehouse experience.

·         Contact with freight carriers to schedule pick-up and deliveries.  Also will be in contact with carriers for freight rates, tracing of shipments, and proof of deliveries of shipments.  Equipment vendors, material and/or parts suppliers, building maintenance suppliers, subcontractors.  

 

V.

Responsibility

Oversees the handling, packaging and storage of supplies, materials and finished goods.  Maintains production and quality by ensuring operation of machinery and mechanical equipment.  Manages the manufacturing operation for Maud Borup.  Management scope includes the safety, quality, schedule and cost in the area of responsibility.     

 

VI.

Physical Requirements

 

Strong physical abilities.  Requires the ability to move about the facility (plant and office), communicate with contacts, and able to operate and maintain office/production equipment.
