The Center for Academic Engagement Career-Technical Education Coordinator provides leadership and management for tutoring centers at all campus locations of Guilford Technical Community College. The Center for Academic Engagement Career-Technical Education Coordinator motivates and guides tutors, staff, and students in an inclusive, professional, and learner-centered environment. A creative and dynamic leader, the Center for Academic Engagement Career-Technical Education Coordinator collaborates and engages with internal and external stakeholders to initiate partnerships and enhance student success.
Duties/Functions
• Design, coordinate, and deliver innovative learning support strategies (e.g. simulation tools, kinesthetic labs, online activities, etc.) to meet the needs of students in career-technical courses. 
• Collaborate with other coordinators to direct the tutoring centers at all campuses of GTCC as a unified entity of the Center for Academic Engagement. 
• Coordinate the daily operation of dynamic, learner-centered tutoring centers. Tutor students in career-technical areas as necessary. 
• Recruit, schedule, and directly supervise career-technical education tutors who provide expertise, experience, and encouragement to students. 
• Collaborate with a diverse group of colleagues to research, evaluate, and implement new ideas for learning support. 
• Proactively develop and deliver programming to enhance student career-technical skills across all campuses. 
• Effectively market Center for Academic Engagement services to all college constituents. 
• In collaboration with college stakeholders, coordinate the annual schedule of student success workshops. 
• Develop, implement, and assess comprehensive tutor training program. 
• Foster the professional development of tutors and staff. 
• Establish and supervise the implementation of standardized learner-centered tutoring center policies and procedures. 
• Anticipate tutoring center needs and follow college procedures to request necessary tools, equipment, and supplies. 
• Collaborate with faculty, tutors, and library staff to develop collections of reference materials. 
• Participate in college-wide events and retention programs. Attend new student orientations, information sessions, and recruitment events as needed. 
• Effectively manage fiscal, human, and operational resources. 
• Gather and analyze appropriate data to identify usage trends, analyze operations, and recommend improvements. 
• Demonstrate and model the college’s employability skills: adaptability, communication, information processing, problem solving, responsibility, and teamwork. 
 
Additional Duties & Responsibilities: 
• Serve on college committees as requested. 
• Participate in job-related workshops and training to enhance job performance. 
• Attend departmental meetings and the college’s All Personnel meetings. 
• Perform all duties as assigned by supervisor.

Education Required
• Bachelor’s degree in a career and technical program OR an Associate’s degree in a career and technical program and a Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
Education Preferred
• Master’s degree from a regionally accredited post-secondary institution.
Experience Required
• Three years of experience providing learning support (e.g. tutoring, on the job training, etc.) in an educational and/or industry setting 
• Experience developing and implementing instructional programming to promote skill acquisition 
• Experience hiring, training, and supervising employees, including conducting performance evaluations
Experience Preferred
• Greater than three years of experience providing learning support and/or instruction 
• Previous work experience in a post-secondary institution 
• Work experience in a career-technical field (e.g., culinary, hospitality, welding, construction trades, healthcare, fire protection, law enforcement, aviation, etc.) 
• Experience with integrated student information systems (e.g., Datatel Colleague, Banner, etc.) 
• Proficiency in using learning management systems (e.g., Moodle, Blackboard) 
• Proficiency in using software to track academic support services (e.g., TutorTrac) 
• Experience hiring, training, and supervising tutors in a post-secondary environment
KSA Required
The Career-Technical Education Coordinator shall possess an understanding of and commitment to the nature and role of the Community College, particularly its “open door” policy. He/she shall have demonstrated personal and professional competence for the responsibilities assigned. The Career-Technical Education Coordinator must be able to:

KSA Preferred Department/Job Specific Requirements
The following (compliance) training is required and must be completed within the first 30 days of hire with annual refresher training thereafter: 
• Ethics 
• Safety/Shooter on Campus 
• Personal Information Protection Training (PIP) 
• Anti-Discrimination/Harassment & Title IX 
• Other training may be required as determined applicable.

4. Must be able to lift, pull/push and carry up to 20 pounds.
