Metro Transit’s Capital Division has 2 exciting Special Duty Assignment opportunities available as a Project/Program Manager II and a Project/Program Manager III. Both positions are within the Division’s recently formed Project Management Office (PMO). The PMO's work includes establishing and implementing best practices and maintaining standards related to project management, planning, procurement and delivery of the capital program. The PMO is a collaborative team applying and developing standards, guidance, tools, and success metrics. The primary area of focus for these Special Duty Assignments is the Process Management area, which helps develop, communicate and educate on best practices; apply policies and create standard work; monitor, control and audit performance; and work to continuously improve processes, systems, tools and the corporate knowledge base.
The PMO Team is tasked with how to "Get Things Built", and the selected candidates should be equally action and outcome oriented. The selected candidates should see the connection between consistent processes, reliable data, integrated systems, standard work, visual management, continuous improvement, contracted professional services and performance audits as a way to enable the Department to optimize outcomes.

We are only accepting applications from current Metro Transit Capital Division Career Service employees who have passed their initial King County probationary period. This recruitment will fill one PPM II and one PPM III. We anticipate these SDAs to last 12 months, with possible extension.
This recruitment may also be used to create an eligibility pool for future SDA vacancies that occur in these classifications. The eligibility pool may be valid for up to twelve months, or until exhausted, at the discretion of the hiring authority.

Selection Process
The letter of interest, resume, and supplemental questionnaire will be screened for qualifications, clarity and completeness. A selection process will be used to determine the most qualified candidates. This process may include: a review of your letter of interest, resume and answers to the supplemental questionnaire and/or a panel interview.
Final offers will be contingent on a record review (personnel file review). References may also be conducted. Management will make the final selection of candidates to be placed into the special duty assignments. The SDA will also be dependent on approval by your current supervisor.
Temporary Telecommuting Requirement
The work associated with this position will be performed remotely, at least through July 5, 2021 in compliance with King County’s telecommuting mandate. Employees will be provided with a County issued laptop and must maintain a workspace with an internet connection where they can reliably perform work and remain available and responsive during scheduled work hours. Employees must reside in WA state and within a reasonable distance to their King County worksite to respond to workplace reporting requirements. There will be situations where the employee is required to report to a County worksite. Please note that when an employee conducts work that is likely to bring them in contact with another individual, safety precautions are required by the department in alignment with the Public Health Directive from the Seattle & King County Public Health Officer.

Specific Salary Ranges:
Project/Program Manager II (non-exempt): $38.69 - 49.02
Project/Program Manager III (exempt): $43.57 - 55.20
Pay for SDA will be in accordance with Personnel Guidelines or selected employee's collective bargaining agreement.
Work Schedule
The standard work week is within the 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday timeframe; however, alternative work schedules will be considered. Occasional work may be required during evenings and weekends. The PPM II is non-exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is eligible for overtime pay. The PPM III is exempt from the provisions of the Fair Labor Standards Act, and is not eligible for overtime pay.
