Unit Member per credit $ 1,953.83 / Per 3 credit class $5,861.49

Non-Unit Member per credit $1,297.64 / Per 3 credit class $3,892.92

General Statement of Duties: The Department of Music at Westfield State University invites applications for a part-time instructor within the Bachelor of Music in Music Therapy program for the Fall 2022 semester. The successful candidate for this position will teach MUSC 0107 Introduction to Music Therapy and MUSC 0291 Neurologic Systems in Music Therapy. The incumbent will be strongly considered for adjunct instructor appointments in future semesters, based upon departmental need and candidate specializations. Instructor need is estimated at one to three courses per semester, in addition to clinical supervision.

We especially invite applicants who demonstrate critical pedagogy in philosophy and approach; are grounded in a music-centered approach to music therapy; take an integral perspective on music therapy orientations; and utilize experiential learning.

Candidates who are able to have an on-campus presence are preferred; however, in exceptional cases, hybrid or remote instruction may be considered. 

Course schedule:

  • Introduction to Music Therapy: Mondays and Wednesdays 3:10-4:25
  • Neurologic Systems in Music Therapy: Time and date TBD based upon availability of successful candidate, defaulting to Mondays and Wednesdays 10:25 AM-11:15 AM


Requirements:

Required qualifications:

  • Appropriate professional credential or designation in music therapy (MT-BC)
  • At least three years of full-time clinical experience in music therapy (or its equivalent in part-time work)

Preferred qualifications:

  • Clinical experience and/or specialized training in music therapy in neurorehabilitation and/or with older adults
  • Master's degree in music therapy or a related field
  • Prior college teaching and/or supervision experience in music therapy
