The Herald and News in Klamath Falls, Ore., (a 10k circ, 5-day a week newspaper and 24/7 online operation), is seeking a new leader to run its newsroom, who will coach and inspire reporters, develop stories that resonate with readers and be a key player in linking the newspaper with the community.

The successful candidate will be responsible for helping increase the circulation of the Herald and News by: providing credible, must read, “matters to residents” local coverage of the community; representing the newspaper in public; leading editorial forums and building the opinion page; and being responsible for community relations through participation and feedback.

The editor is responsible for news content of printed newspapers, website, and some niche products. It includes supervision of city editor, sports editor and all reporters, and includes performance reviews. The editor develops and manages expense budgets and works with the management team to develop and implement the company plans and meet the stakeholder requirements in a manner that foster the company’s culture, mission, and vision.

This management position requires a 4-year degree in journalism or related field and at least three years progressive experience in newspaper editing and supervision. Advanced literacy in computer software including word processing, spreadsheets, pagination programs, Adobe suite programs and internet browsing/research is most important.
