The Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet, Albany Province is a community of 210 women religious who through public profession of the evangelical counsels of chastity, poverty and obedience promise to live entirely for God and for others.  The center of the Albany Province is St. Joseph’s Provincial House in Latham, New York, which is not only the administrative center for the Province but also home to the Sisters who live and work together.  The Provincial House employs approximately 75 lay staff.

We are seeking a Health and Wholeness Director who will be responsible for the development, planning, implementation, and evaluation of the health and wholeness services for all members of the Albany Province of the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet.  The Director leads and facilitates the effectiveness of the members of the Health and Wholeness team in their collective pursuit of an integrated, holistic approach to achieve the optimal health and well-being for each Sister of the Province. The Director works closely with Eddy Senior Care’s Program for All Inclusive Care of the Elderly, a Community Life Team (CLT) and the Provincial House (PH) Leadership Team to ensure the coordination of care and integration of existing and future partnerships in care.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Manages the overall operational, budgetary, and financial responsibilities and activities of the department.
  • Builds a strong, interdisciplinary team to fulfill the vision, focus, structure and goals of the Province Department of Health and Wholeness.
  • Serves as a resource for health and wholeness needs and concerns.
  • Works collaboratively with coordinators to address key components of a sister’s safety, current living choices, support systems and resources.
  • Makes recommendation to Province Leadership regarding actual or potential need for a sister to transition to another level of care.
  • Monitors the requirements and operations of aspects of the PACE contract, process improvement to ensure optimal experience and care of sisters enrolled in the PACE program.
  • Reviews existing policies, develops new policies and procedures at least biennially and communicates any changes to department managers, staff, and community members providing education as needed.
  • Ensures the services provided to all Province members in all settings (independent, assisted and dependent living environments) is consistent with the mission and goals of the Department Health and Wholeness and aligned with the Province mission and goals.
  • Conducts, in collaboration with Province Leadership, an assessment of what is needed to achieve optimal health and wholeness for community members.
  • Other duties as assigned and requested.

 

Education and experience

  • Minimum of Bachelors prepared Registered Nurse with current New York License. Masters in health-related field preferred.
  • Three to five years of progressive leadership and staff management experience.
  • Three or more years direct care experience, related to health promotion and wellness with a focus on optimal health for adults.

 

Qualifications

  • Ability to interact in a constructive manner with aging adult populations.
  • NYS Driver’s License, reliable transportation and the availability to drive to all geographic areas where Province members reside.
  • Ability to work as scheduled and consistently demonstrates dependability and punctuality.
  • Ability to work with staff, supervisors, and personnel from other departments.
  • Demonstrates discretion in all matters related to the assignment, including confidential information seen and heard.
  • Ability to speak and understand English in order to follow directions and perform the essential functions of the job in a thorough and safe manner.
  • Experience in the development of eldercare procedures and protocols.
  • Models a clear understanding and deep commitment to the principles of servant leadership.
  • Demonstrates self-initiated management skills that include good knowledge of accepted standards for managerial duties. Well-organized and able to manage complex variety of organizational needs and responsibilities.
  • Relates to members of the Province, family and staff in a manner that demonstrates and elicits trust and respect.
  • Empowers employees to take responsibility for their jobs and goals. Delegates responsibility and expects accountability and regular feedback.
