Job Summary:

The Staff Assistant will provide support to the University Police Administrative Division. Responsibilities will include coordinating the recruitment and processing of new Contract Security hires including 'on boarding' and orientation, maintaining and updating files for contract security personnel (Training, Education, counseling etc.), processing all Public Safety Daily Activity reports, performing weekly time card audits to reconcile billing and time accruals, and data compilation and presentation to meet regulatory compliance for benchmarking. The Staff Assistant will also be responsible for fleet maintenance, to include scheduling all upkeep and repairs thru multiple vendors and preparing purchase requests for same and manage related record keeping, and for department access and reception. 

 

Minimum Qualifications:

Associate's degree and a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in a supervisory/administrative capacity or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Current NYS Security Guard license required. A valid NYS Driver's License is required.  Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and planning skills. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suites along with various other computer programs. Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritize work.

Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge of Security operations in the public or private sector is preferred. Attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Adequate knowledge of the SUNY system, Upstate Medical University, and the University Police Department.

Work Days:

Rotating Shifts.
