Connect those affected by domestic violence with services they need for long-term change!

Become a part of our team of competent and compassionate professionals as a Helpline Responder in the Helpline Project at Behavioral Health Network! The Helpline Responder provides de-escalation and safety intervention, risk assessment, education and support regarding the values and skills that underlie safe relationships, and referrals to stabilization services needed. They respond via phone, text, and email to help people at risk of using abuse as well as family, friends and professionals who want to support protective behaviors in someone they know to stop using abusive behaviors. Helpline Responders cover 6-hour shifts during evenings, weekends, and holidays.

The Helpline Project is a new effort to provide help, support, and education to anyone who wants to prevent or stop their domestic violence abusive behaviors, victims of abuse, as well as family, friends, and professionals who want to support a person’ efforts to stop. The Helpline Project will provide phone, text, and email support and follow-up services available 12 hours a day, 365 days a year. Helpline staff compassionately work with callers to examine and practice the behaviors of non-abusers, help hold callers accountable for their behavior, and connect them with further resources to encourage long-term change. The Helpline Project aims to strengthen the current efforts of agencies and communities working to end domestic violence.

Job Requirements:

Helpline Responders at Behavioral Health Network have the following qualities:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent (required); Associate’s Degree or higher (preferred).
  • At least 2 years of experience working in the field of domestic violence (required).
  • Demonstrated understanding of domestic violence perpetration (preferred).
  • Crisis line experience (preferred).
  • Openness to continuing education with regard to understanding the dynamics of domestic violence in general, and the specific dynamics of domestic violence perpetration (required).
