Job Summary/Basic Function:
Leadership – Foster a collaborative environment that embraces technology, data accuracy, and attention to detail and implements best practices to ensure the beneficial use and overall presentability of college-owned and operated property.

Financial Management—Develop, foster, and maintain strategic partnerships with vendor suppliers and third-party contractors to ensure department objectives are achieved cost-effectively. Serve as a technical expert and oversee the execution of assignments.

Stewardship of College Property—In conjunction with standard operating procedures, annual and strategic planning initiatives ensure campus property is maintained to the highest achievable standards and supervise the remedy of any condition that falls outside acceptable criteria.

Technical Expertise—Ensure custodial services and materials management implement best practices to achieve the desired outcome for the campus.

Provide direction and leadership to the custodial operations, & materials management on campus, including ALL custodial employees and vendor partners performing custodial functions on campus.

Serve Conferences and Events by managing and overseeing all activities related to event support as assigned, including but not limited to set-up, cleaning, and breakdown.

Serve as a primary user of CMMS to ensure work orders are being engaged with, assigned, completed, and closed within established timeframes.

Develop and maintain core performance standards for maintaining campus property. Develop, modify, and implement run sheets and task assignments for custodians. Develop a quality assurance program to ensure service levels are achieved.

Managed 3rd party vendors performing cleaning or event support functions on campus. Execute life cycle management of these vendors from RFP development to performance management.

Assist in managing and overseeing the departmental and college-wide waste management program, including operations and capital improvements.

This position is categorized as essential to campus operations and is responsible for on-site response during campus emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction, or Facilities Management or relevant experience in these fields with a proven track record of success.

A minimum of 5 years of experience in increasing responsible management in manufacturing, commercial real estate, health care, large-scale complex facilities, or higher education settings.

Experience managing building services or trade workers, assigning work, and verifying outcomes.

Experience managing projects against budgets and schedules and ensuring desired outcomes.

Experience managing operational and capital budgets.

Experience identifying deficiencies and needs as they relate to physical assets and prioritizing those needs by contributing to the development of multi-year capital renewal plans and updating plans against executed reality.

Experience managing supervisor-level employees, developing objectives, and providing clear communication.

Demonstrate ability to quickly and appropriately respond to the varying needs of a large residential community.

Ability to plan, coordinate, and supervise those engaged in a variety of custodial
functions and best practices for facilities cleanliness standards, and responsive professional customer service.

Strong written and oral communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate well with employees verbally in person and in writing at the individual, team, and departmental levels

The ability to convey technical information in a way that is understood by a broad audience.

Knowledge of property management principles and vendor management processes, along with methods and processes used in large-scale housekeeping and custodial operations.

Proficient technology skills, including Google suite of products and Microsoft suite of products, i.e., Excel and Word, along with familiarity with the principles of a CMMS Platform like School Dude for work order-tracking.
Preferred Qualifications:
Previous Experience working in a supervisor capacity within an institutional housekeeping and/or support function.

Experience overseeing an in-house dining service operation.

Experience managing an annual operating and capital budget and tracking variances.

The salary for this position will be commensurate with the qualifications, education and experience.
Physical Demands
Office environment with heavy periods of walking, standing, climbing stairs/ladders, stooping, crouching, and bending both inside and outside buildings throughout the day to perform the essential functions of this job.
