SUMMARY:
Public Health is seeking a Staffing Office/Float pool Nurse Supervisor (PHSS). The PHSS will serve as a responsive supervisor and leader to support staff and foster connections with Community Health Services (CHS) division programs. CHS provides person-centered and trauma-informed services with a focus on continuous improvement, equity and social justice, and respect for people and staff.
The incumbent will be responsible for coordinating the safe and therapeutic allocation of nursing and other clinical resources to all CHS programs so that they may be able to safely operate in times of staffing shortages due to vacancy, leaves, high acuity, vacation, sick call-outs, etc. This position also supports nursing training and onboarding needs within the float pool and across the division.
During the COVID-19 response activation, this position is additionally responsible for supporting infection control activities for CHS COVID-19 operations including field testing, shelter support, and isolation and quarantine locations.
The successful candidate will have a passion for employee and client health and safety, possess strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and work well in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
NOTE: This position does not provide direct patient care to symptomatic/COVID positive clients but will require occasional entry into COVID care settings where PPE is required.

Job Duties: - During COVID response activation, directs and evaluates infection prevention and control in CHS COVID-19 activities including field testing (MAT), Isolation and Quarantine, and shelter investigation team (HEART).
- Collaborates with COVID-19 operations nursing supervisors to ensure that staff are educated and updated on infection prevention and control protocols.
- Oversees COVID-19 operation site audits to assure a high standard of care is in place on infection control and prevention, and to assure that sites are free of environmental hazards.
- Directs and reviews development of standard operating procedures related to staffing ratios and safety.
- Collaborates with leadership, nursing supervisors and other disciplines to coordinate continuity of safe patient care across CHS programs; including all COVID response programs in addition to usual lines of business
- Plans for clinical onboarding and orientation of float pool staff and supports nursing training needs across the division
- Acts as hiring manager for clinical positions in float pool
- Uses matrix and acuity measures to quantify anticipated staffing needs.
- Participates in daily Safe Patient Staffing meetings
- Proactively manages daily staffing needs to cover callouts, PTO, other leaves, vacant positions, etc.
- Maintain skill in timecard managements and assures edits are done according to bargaining unit contracts.
- Monitors timecard patterns and provides feedback to employees
- Participates in annual performance evaluation of float pool staff in collaboration with on-site clinical leadership teams
- Participates in strategic planning as it relates to meeting goals for stable staffing, FTE planning, budget and float pool staffing mix required to provide safe staffing coverage to CHS programs.
- Supports administrative staff with schedule planning and correct allocation of staffing resources
- Assures monthly work schedules following defined contractual schedules
- Monitors acuity and allocates extra staffing resources to maintain safe patient care across CHS programs
- Assign float staff based on clinical experience and program needs
- Contacts employees regarding availability to work and develop/manage schedules
- Ensures float pool staff provide care consistent with organizational standards
- Participates in performance correction and HR related interventions for float pool staff
Requirements: - An active and unencumbered Washington State License as a Registered Nurse
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing from an accredited school of nursing
- Washington State Driver’s License or the ability to travel to work locations with limited or no public transportation is required on a regular basis
- Current CPR-BLS for helathcare providers

WORK SCHEDULE: This is a fully benefited 1.0 FTE that is salaried and not overtime eligible. Typical hours of work are Monday - Friday from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., with some on-call, early morning, evening, holiday and weekend availability required to meet operational needs.
WORK LOCATION: Telework from home and/or Chinook Building, with travel to multiple Public Health service locations, including King County Isolation and Quarantine facilities.
