Content Operations Specialist

Clinical Decisions is seeking a Content Operations Specialist with a background in Darwin Information Typing Architecture (DITA)-based XML authoring to support our content creation teams. These teams are comprised of Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) in critical appraisal of medical literature and include medical doctors, advanced practice providers, nurses, pharmacists, scientists, and methodologists. The ideal candidate is a true team player, committed to producing high-quality work with fast turnaround, with experience in troubleshooting technical errors and working with cross-functional teams to solve problems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Assist with content validation and publication support (running validations and test transformations and addressing identified issues or escalating them)
  • Apply DITA-based XML markup to content authored by internal and external SMEs
  • Collaborate with product management, content engineering, and technology teams on planning and implementing new content features, DITA/CCMS implementations, and content model changes
  • Identify and implement process improvements for content creation and maintenance workflows; collaborate with editorial and technology development teams to design and test authoring environment improvements
  • Demonstrate user focus, attention to detail, and adherence to DITA and style standard methodologies
  • Identify opportunities for content reuse; plan and implement strategies to enable shared content at the product and platform level

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent (may be substituted by experience for the right candidate)
  • 5-7 years experience working within a structured content authoring process
  • Experience working with DITA and an XML authoring system (specifically the oXygen XML Editor)
  • Experience applying and validating metadata according to designated standards
  • Ability to troubleshoot technical errors in the authoring environment and to assist Subject Matter Experts
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines
  • Advanced verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally and coordinate process workflow to meet implementation deadlines

  • Strong critical thinker who approaches new challenges with creative problem solving and a positive attitude
  • Demonstrated interpersonal skills such that training is effectively deployed, and ongoing support is positively received
  • Motivated self-learner with focus on team success
  • XSL, HTML, API, CLI, Java or other programming experience is a plus
