Pohl Transportation, Inc. is an irregular route carrier based in Versailles, Ohio. We operate in 32 states hauling 99% no touch dry van freight.
Drivers Average Salary is $72,000 up to $82,000.

Driver Qualifications

- To be employed by us you must:Have a valid CDL with one year verifiable driving experience.
- Be at least 22 years of age.
- Pass a DOT physical and drug screen.
- Have no DUI, DWI or reckless driving convictions within the past 5 years.
- Have no chargeable DOT reportable accident within the past 2 years, not more than 1 in the past 5 years.
- Have no more than 1 drivers license suspension in the past 5 years.
- Present a clean well groomed professional appearance.
- Pass other criteria as set forth in the hiring process.
Orientation
All persons offered employment will attend a day and a half orientation. Applicants who are not local to the area will receive free lodging and meals. Safety issues, hours of service training and company policies and procedures will be some of the subject matter covered in the orientation. At the completion of the orientation the individual will receive their truck assignment and be placed on dispatch.
Hometime
On average, our drivers are home weekly. The weekend time home will vary on the dispatch schedule but will generally be 32-48 hours.
Safety Bonus
The Safety Bonus is earned annually, based on 52-week results. The pay for the bonus is 2 cents for all miles for the 52 week qualifying period.
Sign-On Bonus
We offer a sign-on bonus of $4,000.
Referral Bonus
Our referral bonus has been updated to $4000.
Anniversary Bonus
Longevity pay plan that increases by 1/2 cent per mile every year after 1 year of service at Pohl Transportation, Inc.
Paid Orientation
$150 pay during orientation training.
Vacations
The vacation schedule is as follows:
Vacation pay is based on your 52-week average
Layover Pay
Layovers are avoided, as they are generally no benefit to you or the company. If you are not dispatched within 24 hours of your empty check in call, you will be paid $100.00.
Holiday Pay
Holiday pay of $80.00 will be paid for 6 holidays annually.
Multiple Stop Pay
Drivers receive an extra $10.00 for each additional pickup and delivery.
Shag Pay
For situations where short trips or shuttles are involved, and 2 consecutive trips are less than 25 miles each, we pay $10.00 shag pay in addition to your regular mileage.
Pay Period
Payday is every Tuesday. Your check will be direct deposited.
Health Insurance
Three health plan options are available; you select the option that best fits your needs. Also available: Dental Insurance, Short-Term Disability Insurance and a Vision Discount Program
401K Retirement
401K Retirement Plan is available after one year employment.
Communications
Motive Communications. All loads and routing provided over the system. No need to fill out trip sheets. Satellite reads when unit crosses state line and records mileage.
Equipment
All tractors are conventional standup double bunks with automatic transmissions. The tractors are equipped with collision avoidance system and lane departure system, two important safety features. Trailers are 53′ dry vans
Passenger Policy
After 30 accident free days you can take a passenger over 16 years of age with written authorization from the company.

Our aim is to make your job as a professional driver the most satisfying and rewarding that it can be for you and your family.
Pet Policy
- One Cat or Dog maximum 30lbs, no aggressive breeds (Pohl’s discretion).
- $500 Deposit (Refundable minus any pet damage and cleaning fees). This deposit can be paid up front, or in 5 weekly installments. Driver can have a pet in the truck while paying the 5 weekly payments.
- You will have to sign off on our Pet Policy for and deposit information before you can have your pet in the truck with you.
- Must have up to date vaccinations/rabies shots and carry this record in the truck at all times. Pohl must be provided a copy also.
- Pet must remain in truck on customer or company property, except for during a truck service.
- Trucks will be checked for cleanliness during visits to the yard.
- Be sure to clean up after your pet during restroom breaks.
- Violations of policy will result in removal of pet from truck. Pohl has the final decision on pet removal.
