Salary: $57,796.13 - $65,151.84 DOE

Southeast New Mexico College formerly New Mexico State University Carlsbad was formed by House Bill 212 in April 2021. Purpose and Scope

 

Under indirect supervision, works on plans and implements a set of program initiatives for a group of projects or clients for the operational entity of the College. The Outreach Coordinator participates in the generation of program resources and the design and development of program operating goals, objectives, protocols, and related tasks. This individual serves as a primary point of both internal and external representation and liaison concerning program implementation and compliance and operational matters. Provides technical/professional and programmatic support to client constituencies.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

The program is grant-funded from a Title V source or series of funding sources. The Outreach Coordinator will have the primary role of communicating with K-12, regional, and other audiences on preparing students to connect academically and socially for college success.  They will communicate the value of planning academically, psychologically, and financially for college, participating in academic & career awareness activities, and exploring career and degree paths, ideally before applying to college or as early in their college experience as possible. The Outreach Coordinator will communicate the existence and value of First-Year Experience participation found to be foundational to student success.   The Outreach Coordinator will also be trained to effectively direct students to academic and career exploration activities and conduct such workshops and sessions as feasible through the grant implementation The Outreach Coordinator will also conduct community outreach activities designed to interact directly with students, families, and K-12 collaborators and community members emphasizing preparation for academic and professional pathways attainable through 2- and 4-year programs. 

           

The Outreach Coordinator will also create and organize STEM outreach activities for students, families, and K-12 teachers to emphasize STEM education and career paths. Additionally, the Outreach Coordinator will be a liaison with campus faculty and staff to assure the campus is kept appraised of ongoing STEM-focused activities.  This position will collaborate with STEM faculty and staff for the annual STEAM Day event allowing students to showcase their projects.  The Outreach Coordinator will promote the STEM Speaker Series to K-12 students, families, and teachers. Finally, the Outreach Coordinator will promote outreach activities via social media and other venues. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Demonstrated professional knowledge and operational expertise within a designated area of program focus. Program planning, development, implementation, and leadership skills. Skill in examining and evaluating operations and developing and/or re-engineering operating strategies, systems, and procedures. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of individuals and constituencies in a diverse community. Ability to determine informational needs, collect and analyze information, and devise and develop statistical analyses and reports. Ability to develop and deliver both oral and written presentations. Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart information to a range of clientele and/or media sources. Ability to make administrative/procedural decisions and judgments. Ability to develop and implement funding strategies and programs.
