POSITION SUMMARY:

The Sr. Director of Pharmacy will provide broad oversight of the system-wide Medication Use Advancement (MUA) division for UH Pharmacy Services.  The MUA consists of six work streams including 1.) Drug Information/Policy Services, 2.) Formulary Management, 3.) Medication Safety, 4.) Accreditation, 5.) Stewardship and 6.) Education and Competencies.  The team is seeking an experienced and dynamic leader who will drive performance improvement and value enhancement within the health care system across all six work areas of the Medication Use Advancement division.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide oversight and support for the MUA team including, manager(s), coordinators, pharmacists, and learners. 
  • Develop and maintain a strategic plan for continued expansion of MUA Services for the Department of Pharmacy throughout the health system.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal and state laws and regulations pertaining to pharmacy services, TJC, DEA, and policies and procedures set forth by the UH Pharmacy Services and Ohio Board of Pharmacy
  • Develop and Implement infrastructure needed for UH Pharmacy Services to become an accredited CE program administrator for grand rounds and other educational-related activities.
  • Provide coordination and oversight for residents and pharmacy students on rotation from affiliated universities.  This includes contract management, rotation onboarding/coordination, and best practice program development for learners embedded with UH Pharmacy Services.
  • Collaborate with learners, pharmacy team members, and enterprise leaders on practice innovations and service line expansion.

  • R. Ph - Pharmacist - Registered
  • PharmD or MS Pharm required 
  • 10 years experience in pharmacy operations with 7+ years management experience in pharmacy. 
  • Strong understanding of state and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent customer service, problem solving and communications skills.
  • Substantial knowledge in project management, performance improvement, risk management principles, patient safety and planning is required.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, especially related to health care colleagues and direct reports.
  • Skilled at building relationships.
  • Licensed as a registered pharmacist or eligible for licensure to practice pharmacy in the state of Ohio is required.
