The HLA Lab mainly performs testing for our transplant patients before they go for transplant.  UH has an 2 active transplant programs, one is the hematopoietic stem cell (bone marrow) program and the other is the solid organ program.  The solid organ program transplants hearts, lungs, livers, kidneys, pancreases and combinations of all of those.

Our lab is open from 7 am Monday morning until 7 am Saturday morning with weekends and holidays covered by the technologists on an on call rotation.

Education: 

• Bachelor degree in biological, chemical science. Requirement in CLIA88 to perform complexity testing.

Prefer:  MT school graduate

Certification:  Individuals with MT education must obtain ASCP certification within 1 year from date of hire or bachelor degree in biological, chemical science must obtain ACHI certification after 1 year from completion of training.
