Job Summary:

The Assistant Technical Director of Upstate Molecular Diagnostics is responsible for assisting the Medical Director with the overall operation of clinical Molecular Diagnostic and Cytogenetics services along with Next Generation Sequencing Laboratory provided by the Department of Pathology. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to participation in the recruitment, education and evaluation of Medical Students, Residents, and Fellows in Pathology, engaging in scholarly activities such as basic or clinical research, participating in department research seminars, seeking extramural funding for support of research activities, and developing a national reputation through participation in national meetings and publications in high impact journals. 

Minimum Qualifications:

MD, DO or PhD in genetics, Cytogenetics, Molecular Biology or related field required. *Certification or eligibility for certification in Molecular Genetic Testing (limited to Molecular) or Oncology (Molecular and Cellular Tumor Markers) by the New York State Department of Health. Residency, Fellowship in Molecular Genetics and/or Molecular Oncology/Biology. A minimum of 4 years of clinical laboratory experience (Residency, Postdoc or Fellowship), including 2 years of experience in clinical molecular genetics/oncology/biology.

Preferred Qualifications:

Board certification in Clinical Molecular Genetics (ABMGG or comparable board). Experience with Microarray.

Work Days:

Monday - Friday, Days
