Reporting to the Manager, Development & Campaign Communications, the Senior Specialist for Development & Campaign Communications drives multi-channel content strategy to support the cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of donors for University Hospitals via mass communications.

Responsibilities:

Creates and manages development communications for external donor audiences. The senior specialist ensures stories and messages are positioned and branded correctly across channels.

Drives and executes a comprehensive, donor-focused content strategy that engages audiences and inspires support of development fundraising priorities and campaigns.

Writes and edits strategic content for print and digital communications, including: e-newsletters, brochures, presentations, case statements, appeal letters, peer-to-peer and crowdfunding campaigns, and publications such as the Annual Report.

Maintains a repository of patient, clinician and donor stories to be used as needed in print and digital communications. When needed, works with leaders throughout the system to identify new stories.

Works as strategic partner with Marketing & Communications to align with overall UH brand messaging and strategy.

Manages outside agencies, photographers, design firms and printers, as necessary.

Works collaboratively with other Institutional Relations & Development department teams to help meet the strategic communications needs of donors.

Education

 

  • Bachelors Degree Required

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Minimum 5 years of communications and advanced writing and editing experience.
  • Experience within a development or marketing department at a major nonprofit organization preferred. 
  • Advanced level of writing and editing print and electronic communications, including impeccable proofreading skills and outstanding verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team, handling multiple assignments in a fast-paced environment. 
  • Ability to set priorities, meet tight deadlines, and work with multiple staff constituencies within the organization and in the funding community. Highly motivated and resourceful. 

Special Skills & Equipment Knowledge:

  • Proficient in Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Adobe. Prior HTML and fundraising database experience a plus
