Entry level finance position responsible for registering patients and verifying insurance information in a timely, courteous and accurate fashion. Provides patients with efficient and pleasant encounter when checking in and or scheduling appointments for services. Accurately and efficiently verifies demographic and insurance information to ensure claim authorization, and completes all related computer input or paperwork. Meets or exceeds registration and insurance accuracy standards. Explains and or collects copays, cost shares and any other applicable fees. Refers patients to the Financial Counselor as appropriate. Transports patient to appropriate locations whenever necessary to avoid delays in patient care. Answers telephone inquiries in a courteous and efficient manner. Maintains in depth knowledge of insurance programs, rules, regulations and guidelines i.e. Medicare, Medicaid, etc. Maintains knowledge of PAS and hospital policies and procedures ensuring maximum utilization of facilities and staffing. Escalates potential patient and or scheduling issues as needed. Maintains work area (desks and equipment) and ensures departmental supplies are appropriately ordered and stocked. Regularly participates in informal and formal education, staff meetings or staff development activities. Performs weekend, holiday and on call rotation.
