Packaging & Distribution Assistant

Summary/Job Brief:

The primary duty of the Packaging/Distribution Assistant at the North Idaho Production Center is to successfully balance a split-shift between both Packaging and Distribution departments. The first half of the shift will be spent performing finishing operations with the help of finishing machines such as the 2299 Allen Bradley Goss inserter. The second half of the shift will be spent performing duties that include loading and distribution of newspapers to drop locations, delivery of newspapers to subscribers on open routes, and the ability to drive two (2) types of delivery trucks. This position performs all duties necessary to prepare promotional material for insertion into the newspaper to ensure timely delivery, in addition to all assigned duties from dock loading to delivery.

Specific Duties:

• Feeding inserts into the machine hopper.
• Providing neat, jogged and accurate stack down and packaging of printed product.
• Cleaning up after production runs.
• Providing warehouse and general building cleanup assistance.
• Assisting with receiving and with processing returned papers and recycled materials.
• Operates the equipment used at manageable speeds, quickly corrects any problems detected, and does all the adjustments in the course of production in order to minimize any production delays so caused.
• Maintains the cleanliness of the equipment and provides preventative maintenance required Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment & routinely lift up to 50lbs, as well as standing, bending and twisting for extended periods of time.
• Good reading, writing and counting skills, and the ability to follow detailed instructions.
• Complies with all company policies, procedures and systems.
• Applies and observes the health and safety standards in effect in the plant.
• Performs any other work-related tasks.
• Loading and distribution of newspapers to drop locations.
• Delivery of newspapers to subscribers on open routes.
• The ability to drive 2 types of delivery trucks.
• Organized and work well with others.

Details and Requirements:

• Starting pay is $14.50 per hour plus mileage allowance.
• Must have a reliable vehicle.
• Valid Idaho driver's license.
• Proof of insurance.

Hours: 11:30 pm to 8:00 am Full Time (40 hours per week).
