Job Description
Under the direction of the Assistant Vice President for Institutional Advancement, the Director of Corporate Relations serves as an integral part of the advancement team at Coppin State University and provides strategic and proactive leadership for the University’s fundraising from local, regional, and national corporations. The successful candidate will affect increased corporate support of the University initiatives.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work closely with campus leadership, faculty, staff and other front-line fundraisers to identify funding priorities and provide strategic direction for corporate and foundation support.
  • Coordinate a strategic plan that outlines objectives and metrics to accomplish fundraising goals.
  • Interfaces with Advancement team to build the case for support and plan and execute development strategies to advance the University.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit, steward five to six-figure gifts.
  • Identify, cultivate, solicit sponsorships for Institutional Advancement events and the University.
  • Maintains a portfolio 125-150 of key corporate contacts with high capacity to be targeted for support through grants, partnerships, and sponsorships.
  • Proactively seek opportunities to generate proposals based on corporate interest that will result in funding for short and long-term goals for the University.
  • Develop high-quality proposals, grant request, appeals and other fundraising communications to corporations and foundations.
  • Assures timely and accurate reporting of gift/grant usage and articulates the impact to the granting corporation or foundation.
  • Works to identify new corporate prospects and grow the base of support from corporate and foundation entities.
  • Assists with other development projects as needed and directed by the Assistant Vice President or Vice President for Institutional Advancement.
  • Serves as an exemplary advocate of the University in the community with, not only corporate partners, but also local leaders, alumni, businesses and other key constituents.
Required Qualifications
EDUCATION:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Marketing, Management, Communications, or a closely related field.

EXPERIENCE:
  • A minimum five years of experience in development or related field with a proven record of securing corporate gifts of at least five to six-figures.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
  • Self-motivated and have a strong experience in corporate and foundation relations.
  • A demonstrated record of successful solicitation and gift and grant acquisition.
  • A strong organizational and leadership capabilities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills.
  • Be able to work effectively with a team and with many diverse constituencies in a university environment.
  • An exemplary interpersonal skill and a disposition that will favorably impact sophisticated business leaders and donors.
  • A high level of personal integrity and emotional intelligence.
  • A commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth.
