Job Details:
  • The EP Technologist II is responsible for delivering high quality patient care through efficient, knowledgeable, and safe performance in assisting physicians with Electrophysiology procedures.

    Essential Duties and Responsibilities

    These duties and responsibilities described below represent the general tasks performed on a daily basis; other tasks may be assigned.

    §  Performs a variety of duties related to cardiac electrophysiology procedures; cardiac ablation for the treatment of atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, implants for cardiac rhythm management (CRM) devices, and ongoing CRM maintenance

    §  Works independently in a flexible work schedule, giving continued clinical support thru the practice CRM clinic for interrogation and programming implanted devices

    §  Participates in quality performance improvement, in-service education, and customer service programs

    §  Requires the knowledge, utilization, and maintenance of complex equipment / inventory in order to maintain quality patient care.

    §  Assist the physician as requested and directed in the performance of any electrophysiology procedure

    §  Observe and attend to the needs of each patient while in the care of the Electrophysiology/Cardiac Cath Laboratory

    §  Maintain a clean and orderly environment throughout the Electrophysiology/Cardiac Cath Lab

    §  Accurately record, note, and file as necessary

    §  Provide explanation and instruction to any medical personnel observing a procedure in order to maintain sterility of necessary areas, safety of patients, and safety of personnel

    §  Assist, as directed by a physician, during any emergency resuscitation procedure

    §  Check the function of and prepare equipment for any necessary patient procedures; complete checklists

    §  Assist the director in maintaining proper stock of supplies by informing of low levels or defective materials

    §  Assist in preparing patient for procedure and do any pre-procedure teaching deemed necessary according to patient needs

    §  Assist in providing post-procedure care to include post-procedure education and accompanying the patient back to their room

    §  Prepare instrument tables by: checking all equipment; checking fluids, medications dosage, concentration, and expiration dates; and ensuring instruments are the proper size

    §  Be proficient in electrophysiology diagnostic and interventional procedures

    §  Be proficient in functioning as a scrub assistant, monitor assistant, and circulator

    §  Assist in the education and training of new staff members

    §  Maintain equipment in ready condition

    §  Participate in continued infection control and quality improvement programs

    §  Process charges

    §  Maintain and distribute patient digital records within HIPPA guidelines

    §  Attend required hospital-wide orientations, meetings, and in-services

    §  Demonstrate a commitment to flexible work scheduling when necessary to ensure patient care

    §  Other duties as assigned

    Education and Experience

    Minimum Required Education: Associates degree or higher, completion of an accredited cardiovascular technology program towards obtaining a Cardiac Electrophysiology Specialist registry

    Must have experience in invasive electrophysiology procedures to include 3D mapping, EP recording systems, and advanced ablation to include A-Fib, familiarity of ICE procedures, cardiac rhythm management interrogation and programming (supporting multi-vendor devices). Operation of the associated equipment to perform stated tasks. Familiar with GE Cardio lab and / or St Jude Work Mate equipment. EP procedure / equipment and CRM programming experience preferred.

     

    Preferred Education: College

    Experience: 2+ years in the Electrophysiology Lab is required

    Applicant must be ACLS, NASPE/RCES, or RCIS with EP experience as identified, or registry eligible.
