As part of Western Washington University's Libraries and Learning Commons, the Tutoring Center is an active learning community with 70-80 student employees and around 40,000 student visits per year. The Tutoring Center seeks a passionate individual, interested in a collaborative role cultivating self-efficacy, excellence in STEM, and student mentorship to join our team as the Tutoring Center Coordinator!About the Position Under the supervision of the Tutoring Center (TC) Program Director, you will be responsible for supervising, training, and managing 70-80 student staff who provide tutoring and study skills services. The Coordinator oversees the daily operation of the TC, coordinates TC services to students, including academic support for math and science General University Requirements (GURs) and study skills development, assists in the professional development of Tutors and Peer Advisors, and supports TC programmatic development. This is an administrative exempt, full-time, 12-month position with full benefits.Required Qualifications - Bachelor's Degree- Minimum of two years providing academic support as an employee of an institution of higher education- Ability to manage multiple demands for time and adapt to changing needs- Ability to work independently and as a dynamic team leader- Demonstrated experience recognizing and supporting the needs of students with diverse identities and abilities- Demonstrated excellence in oral and written communication- Experience with data collection and assessment- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher)Preferred Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in STEM field or strong background in math and/or science coursework- Two or more years' professional experience in a peer-tutoring academic support center- Supervisory experience with students and/or staff- Familiarity with College Reading & Learning Association (CRLA) training and accreditation standards- Knowledge of and experience with relevant teaching theories, pedagogies and best practices- Experience with a tutor data tracking system- Familiarity with Adobe Illustrator, MS Access, OneDrive, Sharepoint, and/or BI QueryApplication review begins November 7, 2018; position is open until filledWestern Washington University (WWU) is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer committed to assembling a diverse, broadly trained faculty and staff.
