Summary: 


Focuses on the financial bottom line for low-to-moderate income individuals. Advises financial behavior on ways to make long-term commitments to increasing income, decreasing expenses, and acquiring assets. Addresses non-clinical factors known as social determinants of health (SDOH) by offering financial coaching, job training and community health supports. Uses strong interpersonal, communication and customer service skills to facilitate financial coaching while simultaneously assisting with the integration of services into other MetroHealth organizational and community initiatives

 

 

Responsibilities:



1. Conducts one-on-one coaching and training, helping primarily low-to-moderate households to increase financial capability, positively improve financial behavior, and achieve financial goals.

2. Develops individualized financial stability action plans in collaboration with clients, including but not limited to, assisting with financial goal-setting, money management habits, savings, credit building, debt management, utilization of financial services and products, tax preparation, benefit screening, employment services, etc.

3. Identifies and refers participants to other community resources and services, as needed, to achieve clients’ financial goals.

4. Identifies, cultivates, and maintains effective relationships with key providers of other community resources and services, coordinating efforts as needed in order to maximize client impact.

5. Ensures client’s physical and electronic files are accurate, up to date and secure.

6. Works with leadership to adapt coaching methods and tools in order to create more effective client and program service delivery and outcomes.

7. Conducts workshops as a means of outreach and education.

8. Represents MetroHealth Institute for H.O.P.E.TM EOC at various community meetings, conferences, committees; attend and participate in special events to assist our community support efforts.

9. Keeps current with emerging developments and changing trends in the field by participating in continuing education courses, professional organizations, and seminars, reading current literature, and maintaining professional contacts within the community.

10. Displays sensitivity to and understanding of various cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.

 

 

Qualifications:


Required:
Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business Administration, Social Work, Public Administration, Social Services, or related field or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in addition to the experience stated below
Two years of experience working with community-based organizations or social service agencies in financial empowerment.
Experience serving at-risk and/or low-to-moderate income populations.
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in employment, financial and income support coaching, counseling, and personal finances, particularly in the areas of budgeting, asset, and credit building.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
Detail oriented with the ability to effectively multi-task and work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Ability to interact effectively with a wide range of cultural, ethnic, racial, and socioeconomic backgrounds.


Preferred:
Experience with diverse population, and/or the ability to provide financial counseling/coaching services in a culturally sensitive manner.
Fluent in Spanish.

Physical Demands:
May sit, stand, stoop, bend, and ambulate intermittently during the day.
May need to sit for extended periods.
See in the normal visual range with or without correction.
Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
Finger dexterity to operate office equipment required.
Ability to communicate in person, phone, email, and other communications.
Ability to see computer monitor and departmental documents.
